Psychotherapy, often called talk therapy, is a collaborative process between a trained mental health professional and an individual, couple, or family. It offers a safe space to:

– explore and understand your emotions, thoughts, and behaviours
– develop strategies for managing life challenges
– enhance your relationships with yourself and others
– improve your physical, mental, and spiritual well-being, and
– connect with your values, beliefs, and passions.

Psychotherapy services may be seen as an investment in your overall well-being and daily functioning

At its core, the consultation offers hope and fosters a sense of connection. The consultation is primarily a 20-minute conversation over the phone or virtually to determine the fit between you and the therapist. It is an opportunity for you to share what brought you to therapy and your goals to help the therapist understand your needs. The consultation also allows you to ask any questions regarding therapy, the therapist’s style, and the approaches used so that you can make an informed decision.

Ultimately, the consultation supports your feeling of being seen, heard, and hopeful. It’s about planting the seed of possibility and starting your journey towards healing.

Each session is 50 minutes in length, except for Couples and Family sessions which are 80 minutes, plus 10 mins for administrative functions. Our goal is to prioritize your mental health without incurring excessive debt. If you are experiencing limited financial resources, sliding scale options are available to make psychotherapy services more affordable and accessible. Please note sliding scale options are determined on a case-by-case situation. Kindly reach out for further details.

The fee for:
– individual sessions are $150

– family sessions are $170

Therapy is an investment in your future earning potential, relationships, and health. Here is where your session fee goes:

ExpenseWhy It Matters
Education & TrainingGraduate degrees and ongoing clinical training to maintain CRPO license.
Liability InsuranceMandatory coverage to protect clients and the therapist.
SupervisionRegular consultation with senior therapists to ensure high-quality care.
Unpaid Admin TimeFor every hour of therapy, there is typically 30-60 mins of unpaid notes, planning, and admin.

OHIP does not cover psychotherapy services. However, in most cases, health insurance companies will cover this cost. You are encouraged to verify the amount and percentage covered by your health insurance provider.

At this time, direct insurance billing is available for specific insurance providers.  Please ask. After each session, a receipt will be emailed to you, which you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.

We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and e-transfers.

To ensure consistent care, we require 24 hours’ notice for any cancellations or changes to your appointment. Your appointment time has been reserved just for you. Not providing the required notice leaves a gap in your therapist’s day that may have accommodated another client needing support.

First, we want to acknowledge you for taking a significant step toward your healing journey. It takes courage and strength to seek support. You may feel mixed emotions before your first therapy session, including curiosity, nervousness, and maybe even some apprehension. These feelings are entirely normal. Knowing what to expect can help ease those feelings and prepare you for a positive experience.

In your therapy sessions, you can expect to have the opportunity to share your story and what’s on your mind. You can talk about your current challenges, past experiences, or anything else that feels relevant. Your therapist understands you may feel vulnerable when sharing such personal information. They aim to provide you with a safe, confidential, and non-judgmental space.

Therapy is a two-way street. You, the client, are encouraged to share your thoughts, ask questions, and provide feedback. Your therapist will also ask you questions to better understand your situation, thoughts, feelings, and what you hope to achieve.

Your first session is an opportunity to start building a relationship with your therapist and begin your journey toward healing and growth.

Therapy takes time, and the first session is just the beginning. Be patient with yourself and the process.
